The new census data not only provide insights into the population density and structure in Saarlouis but also valuable information for future urban and infrastructure planning. Mayor Marc Speicher commented on the census results as follows: "With these current figures, we can further refine our plans and better meet the needs of our citizens. Being positioned as the fifth largest city in Saarland underlines the importance of Saarlouis as a place to live, work, and conduct business. However, the ranking by population among cities in Saarland is not really that important. We are the most beautiful city in Saarland and want to continue improving. For that, we don’t even need a census or official statistics.”
The census represents the first comprehensive survey of its kind since 2011, conducted by the Federal Statistical Office. The collected data serve to update population statistics and provide an essential basis for political and economic decisions. The results offer cities like Saarlouis the opportunity to adapt urban development to the actual population trends and to plan measures in a targeted manner.
The city of Saarlouis continues to pursue sustainable and citizen-oriented urban development in the future. "These data reinforce our commitment to further optimize our services and offerings for the citizens and to establish Saarlouis as an attractive location," adds Mayor Speicher.
Thanks to its historical heritage, local economy, and an active cultural scene, Saarlouis is a vibrant and livable place for all age groups. The city administration thanks all citizens for their trust in the future development of Saarlouis.
