When the event of inheritance occurs, a multitude of legal but also practical questions arise in a very difficult life situation: Should the inheritance be declined or accepted? How can one obtain information about the estate? Is a certificate of inheritance required? Who bears the funeral costs? And many more.
To categorize these questions and clarify some common misunderstandings, the lecture will provide an overview of the statutory and testamentary succession under German inheritance law, the compulsory portion law, the judicial probate procedure, as well as the rights and obligations within a community of heirs.
