At the Beckingen primary school location, the demand for all-day care places has increased significantly in recent years from 80 to 140 places. So far, functional rooms could still be used as alternatives, but all room capacities are now fully exhausted. The container facility is intended to provide temporary relief here. It has a total size of around 120 square meters, consists of eight individual containers, and is to be set up at the rear area of the existing break hall.
Investments totaling approximately 20 million euros are planned by the municipality of Beckingen as part of the school construction and all-day programs for the primary school locations Düppenweiler and Reimsbach.
"We are very pleased that the municipality of Beckingen wants to undertake several projects at its schools in the context of the BAUSTEIN program. Since the implementation of construction measures requires some time, we are providing immediate relief through needs-based allocations. With these funds, the municipality can already realize important room expansion measures for its all-day concept. One must never cut back on the youth!" explained Construction Minister Reinhold Jost.
Minister of Education and Culture, Christine Streichert-Clivot: "The topic of school construction will continue to accompany us over the next few years. Against the backdrop of the legal entitlement to an all-day place in primary education, we still need to make extensive investments throughout Saarland by 2026. As a state government, we have created funding opportunities within the framework of the Saarland school construction program 'BAUSTEIN'. It only works together. We want the best learning environment for our students, because only when they feel comfortable and valued can they unfold their full potential."
