[advertisement placement="fullsize_banner"]On Monday, November 25 at 6:30 PM, the Biosphere Adult Education Center offers the lecture "50 Years Later: 'Mittelstadtgeschichten' – The New St. Ingbert and the District and Administrative Reform of 1974" led by Dr. Markus Gestier.
There were 345 municipalities in Saarland before 1974. The territorial and administrative reform – the “project of the century” – turned these into 50 unified municipalities. The reform aimed to make administrations more modern and efficient and to save costs. Specifically, this meant, among other things:
The new city of St. Ingbert, including Rohrbach, Hassel, Oberwürzbach, and Rentrisch, was established. The Saarpfalz district was newly formed, as was the greater Saarbrücken area.
But the reform did not meet with approval everywhere: especially smaller towns fought up to the courts for their independence: Rohrbach, Dudweiler, and Ensheim are examples. An exciting chapter of recent Saarland contemporary history.
The lecture will take place at the VHS office, Kaiserstraße 71, St. Ingbert, training room ground floor, and is free of charge.

Caregiving relatives face special challenges when caring for people with dementia. Relatives of people with dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease, are not only exposed to the stresses that are also found among relatives of patients with severe chronic physical illnesses. In addition, there are specific problems caused by disorientation, reversal of the day-night rhythm, forgetfulness, aggressiveness, and personality changes, which increasingly strain and alter the relationship between caregiver and care recipient, often exhausting affection. Currently, around 23,600 people in Saarland are affected by dementia. 80% of those affected in Saarland are cared for at home by their relatives, more than the national average.
The event offers the opportunity for information, discussion, and exchange of experiences about dementia-related diseases.
The lecture will take place at the VHS office, Kaiserstraße 71, St. Ingbert, training room ground floor, and is free of charge.

Lecture: Grandchild trick, fake police officer, false prize promises, doorstep sales
On Thursday, November 28 at 3 p.m., the Biosphere Adult Education Center is offering the lecture "Grandchild Trick, Fake Police Officer, False Prize Promises, Door-to-Door Sales" led by Chief Police Inspector Patrick Rubeck.
The lecture on the topic "grandchild scam, fake police officer, false prize promises, doorstep sales" is especially aimed at seniors and their relatives.
HOW CAN I PROTECT MYSELF IN DAILY LIFE?
This question is answered by the presentation of the criminal police advisory service. Grandchild trick, fake police officers, promises of winnings, trick theft at the front door, money exchange trick… the imagination of criminals seems almost inexhaustible. This presentation illustrates these and other methods. It also addresses minimizing the risk of becoming a victim yourself.
The lecture will take place at the VHS office, Kaiserstraße 71, St. Ingbert, training room ground floor, and is free of charge.
