L 140 Sprengen-Obersalbach-Kurhof (ots)
The accident participant, male, 70 years old, residing in Saarwellingen, was driving his car, a Skoda Kodiaq with a trailer, on April 14, 2024, around 4:25 p.m., on the extension of Saarlouiser Straße coming from Köllerbach in the direction of L 140. The motorcyclist, male, 18 years old, residing in Völklingen, was riding his motorcycle, a KTM EXE 300, on the L 140 coming from Schwalbach-Elm towards Reisbach. The car driver turned right from Saarlouiser Straße onto L 140 without giving priority to the motorcyclist. At the junction of L 140, a collision occurred between the motorcycle and the rear left corner of the car. The car was damaged on the rear left side due to the collision but was still drivable. The extent of the damage is not yet known. After the collision, the motorcycle slid sideways onto the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming car, a Skoda Scala, driven by a 32-year-old woman from Wadgassen. The driver braked her car to a complete stop before the collision. According to current knowledge, no damage was caused to the car. The motorcyclist was seriously injured in the traffic accident and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Saarbrücken. There is no risk to life. The motorcycle was no longer drivable and was severely damaged in the accident. No exact damage estimate can be provided yet. The L 140 was fully closed for about 45 minutes for the duration of the accident investigation.
