Die PARTEI is irritated because the Bundestag administration wants to forgo collecting a 2.4 million euro fine for an illegal party donation from the Berlin real estate entrepreneur Gröner to the Berlin CDU.
As LobbyControl reports, Christoph Gröner donated a total of 820,000 euros to the CDU in 2020 and subsequently publicly stated that he had formulated concrete expectations towards the CDU in this context. According to party law, this constitutes an illegal donation with expectations, for which a penalty of three times the amount of the illegal sum must be imposed.
The administration of the Bundestag is responsible for auditing the finances of the parties but refuses to take action against the CDU. While the same administration has in the past taken Die PARTEI to the Federal Administrative Court for apparently lawful behavior (see money sale https://www.faz.net/aktuell/wirtschaft/bundesverwaltungsgericht-die-partei-durfte-geld-verkaufen-16791820.html), it treats the CDU with kid gloves.
Almost 70,000 people have signed a petition by LobbyControl and WeAct, urging the German parties to take action against the illegal preferential treatment of the CDU: That is why Die PARTEI has commissioned Prof. Dr. Sophie Schönberger from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf to represent them before the Bundestag administration.
In this context, the Bundestag administration was formally requested today to issue a sanction notice against the CDU. Should the administration fail to comply with this request, we will enforce the claim through legal action.
The Federal Chairman Martin Sonneborn:
„In times of budget crisis, we cannot afford to give the CDU 2.4 million euros as a gift.
If the CDU friends in the Bundestag administration do not want to collect the money, we will go to court. We now know how to win lawsuits. Smiley
