In the night from Thursday to Friday, at around 1:10 a.m., a fire occurred on Mühlenstraße in Saarlouis-Roden. Neighbors in the vicinity alerted police and firefighters and reported flames coming from the roof. The affected property is a building complex containing several apartments, with a courtyard at the rear adjoining a commercial building. None of the three residents were injured. However, a full fire developed in the roof structure of the residential complex, making the building uninhabitable for the time being. The residents were able to be taken in by relatives. During the initial response measures, the police found a 39-year-old man near the fire scene who is relevant to the investigation. Specially trained personnel from the criminal police will now begin investigations into the cause of the fire by searching for evidence. The damage is preliminarily estimated to be in the high six-figure range.
