A rent index reflects the local comparative rent and thus helps tenants and landlords to assess the rental prices set. At the initiative of the expert committee of the district of Saarlouis, such an index is now being created for the city center of Saarlouis. Residents are asked to assist in this process.
Since July 1, 2022, cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants are required to create a qualified rent index. In Saarland, currently only the state capital Saarbrücken exceeds this population threshold. Nevertheless, the expert committee of the Saarlouis district will now, for the first time, develop a rent index for the inner-city area of the district town Saarlouis – as a flagship project for the district and as a service for the citizens.
More precisely, the project area includes the city center within the inner city ring (Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring, Titzstraße, Prälat-Subtil-Ring, Choisyring, Anton-Merziger-Ring, Luxemburger Ring). According to counts, around 2100 residential and commercial units are located there, for which a rental index is now to be created as an example.
Citizens who are tenants or landlords in this area will find a short questionnaire about their property in their mailbox at the end of October. This can be completed and sent back by mail to the Saarlouis district office – there are no costs involved. As a thank you, all participants will receive the completed rent index free of charge. Those citizens who did not participate in the survey can purchase the rent index afterwards from the appraisal committee of the Saarlouis district. The data of all participants will be treated confidentially.
Questions about the project can be directed to Mr. Otto Holzer by phone at 06831-444335, by email at mietspiegel@kreis-saarlouis.de, or in person at the office of the Expert Committee for Property Values, Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring 31, 66740 Saarlouis.
