The pianist and composer Hauptmann was born in 1993. In 2009, the native Saarlander founded the HNK Trio together with Conrad Noll and Fabian Künzer. This trio won both the Studiopreis of Deutschlandfunk at Jugend jazzt 2011 and the European Jazz Award a year later. In 2012, Hauptmann moved to Cologne to study at the University of Music and Dance. At the International Jazz Competition in Mechelen in 2015, he was awarded best soloist. He plays in various formations, and from 2016 he was a member of the Bundesjazzorchester for two years. Since 2020, he has formed the ensemble PERCUSSION together with Roger Kintopf on double bass and Leif Berger on drums. In 2022, they released their eponymous first album, from which they will also perform pieces in the Festsaal.
The concert series Jazz im Schloss is under the patronage of Regional Association Director Peter Gillo. It is supported by SR2 Kulturradio and Saartoto. The idea and concept come from VHS director Dr. Carolin Lehberger as well as Dr. Peter Kleiß and Elfi Kleiß. The latter, as the artistic director, places the focus of the series on musicians who are active in Saarland
They have already performed with other ensembles. At Jazz im Schloss, they present their current projects in new line-ups.
