For this, Mayor Christiane Blatt received the athlete, who competed in the sprint event at the 2021 Paralympics in Tokyo, at the New Town Hall.
Mayor Christiane Blatt expressed her appreciation in her speech: "Qualifying for the Paralympics requires a high level of discipline and perseverance. I am very pleased that your sporting ambition and achievements could be crowned with this participation. Only a few elite athletes manage to take part in the Paralympics, and you, as well as the citizens of the city of Völklingen, can be very proud of this."
Currently, Nicole Nicoleitzik trains five times a week and is preparing for further competitions and the 2024 Paralympics, which are expected to take place in Paris.
