With great commitment, those involved succeeded in collecting four bags full of rubbish and waste. The children and young people participated with great enthusiasm and were amazed at the number of carelessly discarded items. Through the insights gained, this campaign made a lasting contribution to the environmental awareness of young people. District Administrator Dr. Theophil Gallo said: “Topics such as sustainability, climate change, and environmental protection are becoming increasingly important today. Therefore, it is all the more important to inspire and sensitize the younger generation to these issues. In addition to theoretical work in schools, practical introduction to environmental protection and waste prevention is an important pillar. A big thank you goes to all helpers, especially the twelve children and young people who ultimately are our motivated environmental protectors of tomorrow.”
Background
The campaign "Saarland picobello" is a litter collection initiative by the Waste Disposal Association Saar (EVS). Volunteers collect litter found in public places such as forests, parks, and green areas, thereby highlighting how the environment is burdened by carelessly discarded waste.
