From April 22 to 29, the municipality of Eppelborn invites you to a very special birthday party. With extraordinary guests and a varied program, big Eppel looks back on 20 years.
Located centrally in the town center, the Culture and Congress Center quickly became a sought-after address. Not far from the highway exit and in the middle of Saarland, the big Eppel is ideal for events of all kinds.
Even during the pandemic, Eppelborn's mayor Andreas Feld recalls, the spacious rooms were highly sought after by many organizers.
A total of 12.8 million was invested by the municipality at the time in the new landmark. After only 18 months of construction, the big Eppel was handed over to its purpose in January 2003. Back then, the now deceased former mayor Fritz-Hermann Lutz welcomed the first guests to the New Year's reception. This event was the start of a three-week opening program.
The Culture and Congress Center received its name through a competition: the Culture House Commission selected three favorites from over 100 proposals. In a secret ballot, they ultimately decided on big Eppel. Today, the name is just as indispensable as the seven-meter-high sculpture by Eberhardt Killguss in front of the main entrance.
Numerous events were held in 2013 to celebrate the tenth anniversary, and now big Eppel can already look back on two decades full of life. Renowned artists, prominent soloists, and large orchestras, as well as amateurs from the Eppelborn clubs, have regularly taken to the big Eppel stage, the boards that mean the world.
Mayor Andreas Feld wants to celebrate this success story joyfully with the population. “The employees of our Cultural Office have put together a great program, and I am convinced that our big Eppel team will also act as excellent hosts during the festival week,” promises Mayor Feld.
Expected are the king of children's disco, Volker Rosin, the Gunni Mahling Show Ensemble, and Olaf der Flipper from the cult band "Die Flippers" accompanied by his daughter Pia Malo. The highlight of the birthday party will undoubtedly be the performance of the Kölsche band Die Höhner on Saturday, April 29, 2023. In collaboration with SR 3 Saarlandwelle, guests can look forward to great entertainment here.
The presale for all events has already started.
„I invite everyone to celebrate this anniversary with us. Come to the big Eppel and enjoy excellent entertainment,“ concluded the mayor.
