The district town of Neunkirchen was once again able to assert itself as one of the Picobello strongholds with over 2,600 participants. On Friday and Saturday, more than 50 groups were active throughout the city.
“It is pleasing that people of all ages actively clean their city and surroundings. This signals that they do not tolerate unnecessary pollution. Anyone who takes part in Picobello has my respect: Doing nothing is not a solution,” said Mayor Jörg Aumann.
The diligent helpers collected all kinds of waste that could actually be disposed of legally quite easily. In addition to the ever-present packaging from various fast-food chains, almost all forms of plastic waste such as bags, bottles, canisters, buckets, toys, etc. were secured. Numerous car tires, construction debris, wood, fence remnants, and of course the inevitable bulky waste were also found again.
“The dedicated volunteers collect impressive amounts as part of Picobello. At the same time, it is sobering that there are still so many people who simply throw their trash in the city and nature. Even though there are free disposal options for most types of waste. That is why we involve all age groups in Picobello, including the younger generation,” said Deputy Thomas Hans.
