The initiative aims to inspire more enthusiasm for cycling through fun and healthy movement, and to bring topics such as cycling promotion and climate protection more strongly into the municipalities. “Cycling means more than just climate-friendly mobility and helps us strengthen our health,” emphasizes Mobility Minister Petra Berg. “I am therefore very pleased to once again pedal together with all Saarlanders this year and save the greatest possible amount of CO2 emissions.”
The starting signal sounds on June 11, 2023, for the people of Saarland: Until July 1, the goal is to cover as many routes as possible to work, school, or privately by bicycle. The Stadtradeln Saar is taking place for the eighth time this year, while the Schulradeln Saar is being offered for the fifth time. Year after year, the number of participants increases: Last year, more than 8,400 people from Saarland took part in the campaign. Additionally, 81 schools as well as 56 municipalities, cities, and districts competed in cycling and set new participation record levels.
Municipalities can register starting March 15th at 10 a.m., and from April, cyclists can also register as individuals. More information on participation and registration can be found at: www.saarland.de/stadtradeln
