Since 1911, International Women's Day has served as a reminder that gender equality in all areas of life has not yet been achieved.
Under the motto: "We say it through the flower" – visitors were able to write down their wishes, ideas, and demands for a better and fairer coexistence on protest signs or paper flowers. There was an interesting and diverse exchange with a wide variety of ideas and suggestions. The fully decorated shop window, with many primroses highlighting the protest signs pointing out injustices and the many colorful paper flowers, thus became a very special eye-catcher with a message.
Three pension points for each child, half the power to men—half the money to women. Stop female poverty, no violence against women, equal representation in parliaments. Enhancing typically female professions, abolishing the pink tax, to name just a few of the demands and proposals that were widely debated. However, there were also security concerns, such as an uneasy feeling about being out alone in the evening.
Under the slogan Woman (in) Lautern, further events on a wide range of topics are held throughout the year. The first meeting of the event series Woman(in)Lautern is the empowering women's circle. The women's circle takes place every 2nd Thursday of the month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the neighborhood office.
