The combined practical seminar offers tips and information on species protection and shows how birds, insects, and other animals can be supported in the garden and on the orchard meadow.
A range of different nesting aids is presented. Both the construction and the suitability for various animal species are considered. It is explained how and where the different nesting options can be installed or integrated. In the practical part, participants can create a wild bee nesting aid "to go," for example, in a tin can for their own garden. Finally, an on-site environmental check is conducted, and the naturally existing habitat structures are assessed.
The speaker Michael Keller, a graduate biologist, works for the district of St. Wendel as a specialist advisor for fruit and horticulture and is a contact person for nature and species protection projects. As a lecturer for the garden supervisor training of the Association of Gardening Clubs Saarland/Rhineland-Palatinate e.V., he is responsible for the areas of "botany, ecology, and nature conservation".
