The focus is on the novel "Les années" by Nobel Prize-winning author Annie Ernaux. Ernaux and Éribon create impressive portraits of their respective family histories and a reflection on their processes of social advancement and emancipation in France during the 20th and early 21st centuries. The novels will be discussed through readings of selected passages. Professor Dr. Patricia Oster-Stierle will introduce Ernaux's novel. Other participants include the Germanist Uschi Schmidt-Lenhard and Éribon expert Dr. Matthieu Choblet. The event will be moderated by Romance studies scholar Gerhard Rouget. Admission is 8 euros.
