Curator Vera Loos and cultural officer Peter Michael Lupp presented the artists and their works, while Hartmut Oßwald reflected on the theme musically with the bass clarinet.
The historic town hall of Kleinblittersdorf has long been a venue for art exhibitions and is therefore part of the network of art and culture locations in the Regionalverband Saarbrücken. On the initiative of the Regionalverband Saarbrücken and the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf, future efforts on-site aim to engage with the themes of the UNESCO Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve through the language of art.
Artist Vera Loos will henceforth curationally accompany the art exhibitions. To kick off, the artists Rudolf Schwarz and Bernd Janes were won over to present works that can be read as subtle messages of the specific cultural landscape of the Bliesgau.
Architect, building ecologist, and artist Bernd Janes (pictured far left) highlights the distinctive earth tones of this landscape with 7 panels and 7 rammed earth blocks, which he created from the clayey shell limestone soil of the Biosphere Bliesgau. It is based on subtle differences in the clayey shell limestone. Lyrical texts, specially written for these artworks by the Saarland poet Johannes Kühn, open dialogues that allow a deeper sensory access to the unique identity of the Bliesgau landscape.
Artist Rudolf Schwarz (pictured in the center with a hat) invites you with his conceptual art piece "BLIESGAUHOCKER" to take a seat and explore the deeper purpose of his work. Using the symbol and method of the "Mobile – UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau," the artist has connected his work with important perspectives on the sustainable preservation of this landscape. Viewers are encouraged to participate and develop their own viewpoint.
The art project is understood as a contribution to aesthetic and cultural education for sustainable development in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau, with cooperation partners including the Regional Association Saarbrücken, the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf, the Saarpfalz district, and the Biosphere Purpose Association Bliesgau.
