The traditional horse procession in honor of Saint Quirinus leads riders and carriages through the beautiful vineyards near Perl and Sehndorf. Great views of the Moselle Valley and the boundless tri-border area are guaranteed.
At the Quirinus Chapel, the horses and riders are blessed according to tradition. Saint Quirinus is regarded in the Catholic Church as the patron saint of horses and has been venerated in Perl since the year 1050. On April 30, 1050, passing pilgrims left relics of the saint in Perl as a thank you for the hospitality they received. The horses and riders gather from 12:00 PM in the Baroque Garden in the Park of Nell (Quirinusstraße, Perl) and set off together at 2:00 PM. Interested riders can register with Ms. Silvia Brücker via email (silviabruecker@yahoo.de).
For all those without a horse, this day offers the opportunity to see beautifully decorated horses and carriages. Following the Quirinus ride, the Perl/Besch music club entertains visitors with a fairground concert. Local clubs offer coffee, cake, and drinks. The Ökonomierat Herber winery serves wine.
In addition, from Saturday, April 29 to Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the Perler Kirmes will take place at the Catholic Association House Perl, directly above the Nell Park. For four days, there will be traditional fair fun with rides, food, and drink stalls in the open air.
