The planting of almost 170 trees will take place over several weeks. All property owners who submitted an application in 2022 and received a positive response from the city will receive their house trees free of charge. The trees will be planted by a Saarland-based tree nursery at the requested location. For organizational reasons, no planting appointments will be scheduled. However, the tree nursery will inform individual tree recipients at short notice about when the planting will take place at their location. The district town of Saarlouis plans to repeat the campaign in 2023. By planting the house trees, the city ensures stronger greening of the areas near the streets, thereby counteracting summer overheating. The federal government is funding the project with 90% as part of the program “Adapting Urban Spaces to Climate Change.”
