Background:

The events of the International Weeks Against Racism take place every year around March 21. This day commemorates the massacre in Sharpeville, South Africa, in 1960, where 60 people lost their lives during protests against the apartheid regime and several hundred were injured. For this reason, the United Nations declared it the "International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination."
