Joining the Young Free Voters (JFW) and Free Voters Women is now a working group of Free Voters QUEER. Daniel Meincke (Hamburg) from the Free Voters had the idea and presented it to the federal board of the Free Voters, which met with broad approval. The working group with the term "QUEER," short for acceptance and equality, consists of people who do not identify with the heterosexual norm
. The federal working group Free Voters QUEER was founded on March 4, 2023, in Kassel and represents the interests of lesbians, gay men, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people, as well as everyone who feels part of the queer community.
The nine-member federal board was unanimously elected. Daniel Meinicke from Hamburg was elected as the federal chairman of the working group. Eric Pärisch (Hesse) and Tohru Saenger (Lower Saxony) were elected as deputy federal chairmen. Furthermore, Willi da Silva Borges (Saarland), James Jonik (Baden-Württemberg), Franziska Bauernfeind (North Rhine-Westphalia), Thorsten Illg (North Rhine-Westphalia), Manuel Janker (Bavaria), and Alexander Kocks (North Rhine-Westphalia) serve as assessors on the federal board.
At the founding meeting, Gregor Voht, Federal Secretary General, and Kerstin Haimerl-Kunze, Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the FREIE WÄHLER, were present, who addressed a greeting to the assembly and led the founding meeting. Voht and
Haimerl-Kunze look forward to good and close cooperation with the Free Voters QUEER and wished much success in their work.
