The association of citizens from St. Ingbert and the surrounding area, who meet monthly under the motto "Repair instead of Throw Away," was warmly welcomed in Oberwürzbach by local representative Lydia Schaar and has since made itself at home there. The order books, which had filled up well during the corona pause, have since been quietly worked through on site. "We have now settled in well at the new venue, so we are once again able to take on new orders and actively promote the offering," said Frank Ehrmantraut, the organizer of the Repair Café at the VHS. In recent months, an image film has also been produced, which can be viewed on the VHS website www.vhs-igb.de under the Repair Café section. Here, interested citizens can get an impression of the work at the Repair Café in advance.
In addition to the perennial favorite electrical repairs, the repair areas also include bicycle, computer, and textile repairs as well as welding work or even image restoration. Depending on the skills of the volunteer repair helpers, other topics may also be added. Equally important are the helpers who take care of the guests' physical well-being and ensure smooth operations. Due to insurance regulations, a certain level of bureaucracy is unfortunately unavoidable, which is why a dedicated team is also deployed to keep track of it all.
Also new is the cooperation with the Foodsharing St. Ingbert initiative, which is dedicated to rescuing food. Alongside the repair café appointments, a public fair sharing event now takes place. Here, citizens can learn about the initiative's activities and help themselves at a generously laid table of rescued food.
The next Repair Café dates are as follows: Thursday, March 16, April 20, May 25, June 15, September 21, October 19, November 16, 2023, each from 5 to 7 PM at the local administrative office Oberwürzbach, Hauptstraße 94. If arriving by car, we kindly ask you to use the parking lot at the Oberwürzbach Hall, as parking directly in front of the building is very limited.
Important note: For organizational reasons, prior registration is mandatory. This can be done online via the VHS website www.vhs-igb.de, by email vhs@st-ingbert.de, or by phone at 06894/13-726.
