The 50-year-old driver from Bexbach then fled at partially excessive speeds through the downtown area of Neunkirchen. On the approximately 8 km long escape route, he not only continued to ignore the stop signals from the pursuing police patrol car, but also endangered several previously unknown road users by occasionally driving in the oncoming lane. The pursuit ended after about 6 minutes with an axle break against a boundary wall on Spieser Street in Neunkirchen. During the subsequent inspection of the driver and the vehicle, it was found that the driver did not possess a driving license and was under the influence of narcotics. Furthermore, he was carrying a small amount of narcotics in the unregistered Mercedes with forged license plates. After a blood sample was taken, the driver was released from police custody. Several criminal proceedings were initiated against him, including endangering road traffic pursuant to § 315c StGB, illegal motor vehicle racing pursuant to § 315d StGB, and possession of narcotics. Witnesses, especially endangered road users, are requested to contact the police in Neunkirchen at Tel. 06821/2030 or the police in Sulzbach at Tel. 06897/9330.
