Therefore, District Administrator Dr. Theophil Gallo has made it his personal mission to honor singers who reach this milestone on behalf of the Saarpfalz district. Günther Kunze from St. Ingbert recently received this honor, who, together with Werner Zeitz, chairman of the St. Ingbert district choir association, had accepted the invitation to the district administration office.
Günther Kunze was accepted as a fourteen-year-old boy on December 25, 1952, into the men's choir association (MGV) Frohsinn St. Ingbert e. V. Since then, his passion for choral singing, as well as for the intense club life associated with it, has never left him. His joy of singing and his long-standing commitment to the club, for example on the board, have shaped the life of the former correctional officer.
„I have spent wonderful years with the MGV Frohsinn and experienced so much. When I think of our club trips to Rome or Prague,“ the 84-year-old fondly recalled, adding with a wink: „Our former Sunday rehearsals were almost legendary.“ He probably also meant that many a wife waited in vain for her husband to come to lunch on those rehearsal Sundays. In any case, the active singer could not stop raving as he told his stories, and from this enthusiasm he draws his motivation to remain loyal to his MGV Frohsinn for as long as possible.
District Administrator Dr. Gallo congratulated Günther Kunze on the anniversary. "Thank you very much for enriching the cultural life and the community of people in St. Ingbert and the Saarpfalz district for 70 years now as a singer in the MGV Frohsinn. I am pleased that people like you carry on and promote communal singing. Without singing, we would be poorer," emphasized the district administrator, who also did not fail to mention that he is proud of his 25 years of membership in the Bexbach Schubert Choir this year, but 70 years of choral singing "that is quite something."
Werner Zeitz emphasized that it is unique in the Saarland for a district administrator to make such a commendation. He further stated that he is very grateful for the continuous support that the district choir association St. Ingbert receives from the Saarpfalz district. This allows important projects for the member choirs to be realized within the framework of the association's work, according to the chairman.
