Fools' attack on St. Ingbert administrative castle – Town hall storming on February 18 at 11:11 a.m.
And once again, the time has come! On Saturday, February 18th, the traditional town hall storm in St. Ingbert will take place! At 11:11 a.m., the festive attackers will start their march across the market square, past the market hustle and bustle, towards the administrative fortress. There, Mayor Ulli Meyer, supported by town hall staff and council members, will try by all means to deter the attackers from their plan and defend his official seat.
Led by the fanfare band NKV Elversberg, various St. Ingbert carnival clubs and cheerful revelers will march to the town hall at 11:11 a.m. Their goal is to seize the town hall key from Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer and thus symbolically take control of the city.
Alongside Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer, city administration employees and council members will try to dissuade the jesters from their plans and bravely defend the town hall. The comrades from the fire department and the Rohrbach shooting club are also involved and will position themselves protectively in front of the town hall. An entertaining exchange of blows between the opponents will finally decide victory or defeat. Experience, however, teaches that the jesters will be clearly outnumbered and will likely wrest control of the city from the mayor for the carnival season.
After the struggle for control of the town hall, lively festivities with dancing and drinks take place in the dome hall of the town hall. Physical well-being is also well catered for with drinks at “old-fashioned” prices and small pretzel bites.
Citizens are warmly invited to start the Faasenacht Saturday with liveliness from 11:11 a.m.
Storming of the Town Hall and Carnival Parade in Oberwürzbach
The storming of the town hall in Oberwürzbach will take place on Saturday, February 18, at 11:11 a.m. Meeting in front of the mayor’s office, followed by Schlorum in the Unterkirche.
During this event, the main street will be completely closed after the junction with Steckentalstraße from the direction of St. Ingbert and about 50 meters before the local administrative office from the direction of Rittersmühle. Through traffic will be diverted via Friedhofstraße from both directions.
The Fasnacht parade in St. Ingbert-Oberwürzbach takes place on Shrove Monday, February 20th, at 3:11 PM. The lineup of participants (vehicles and walking groups) begins at 1 PM on Talstraße (Felsenbrunnen); the departure is around 3:11 PM. During this time, Talstraße is completely closed to through traffic. While the parade goes through Hauptstraße and Friedhofstraße, these streets are also fully closed. A detour is signposted and regulated by the police. Traffic delays are to be expected.
Afterwards, festive fun continues in the Oberwürzbachhalle and in the Unterkirche.
Carnival parade through Kaiserstraße and the pedestrian zone
On Sunday, February 19, 2023, the carnival spirit will finally return to St. Ingbert. After a two-year break, the traditional Faasenachts parade will take place, accompanied by hordes of revelers along the streets, singing and celebrating.
The crazy Lindwurm starts at 2 pm on Kaiserstraße at the level of the Innovation Park near the Beckerturm and then winds its way as usual along Kaiserstraße through the pedestrian zone to Wendling's Corner. There, the procession dissolves towards Saarbücker Straße and Schlachthofstraße.
In good weather, around 25,000 visitors are expected in the city center of St. Ingbert. More than 40 walking groups and beautifully decorated floats will participate in the parade. Various bands and a Guggenmusik will provide musical entertainment. Along the parade route, DJs guarantee a lively atmosphere, and afterwards the festivities continue in the city center with numerous after-parade parties.
Due to the long break, the excitement among the participating groups is especially high, and many outstanding and impressive ideas regarding costume and float design can be expected.
As in previous years, the police, municipal public order service, THW, and the fire brigade ensure order and safety before and during the parade. The Red Cross is also on hand with its medical service. Traffic disruptions are to be expected. Road users are asked to avoid the city center by taking detours.
