After a two-year break, the traditional Faasenachts parade is taking place, accompanied by hordes of jesters along the roadside who sway and celebrate.
The crazy Lindwurm starts at 2 p.m. on Kaiserstraße near the Innovation Park at Beckerturm and then snakes as usual along Kaiserstraße through the pedestrian zone up to Wendlings Eck. There, the procession dissolves towards Saarbücker Straße and Schlachthofstraße.
In good weather, around 25,000 visitors are expected in the city center of St. Ingbert. More than 40 marching groups and beautifully decorated floats will take part in the parade. Various bands and a Guggenmusik band provide musical entertainment. DJs guarantee lively atmosphere along the parade route, and afterwards, the carnival continues with numerous after-parade parties in the city center.
Due to the long break, the excitement among the participating groups is particularly high, and one can look forward to many elaborate and impressive ideas regarding costume and float design.
As in previous years, the police, municipal public order service, THW, and the fire brigade ensure order and safety before and during the parade. The German Red Cross is also on standby with its medical service.
