All Greesen – old, new, and aspiring – along with their companions are cordially invited. The event starts at 11:00 a.m., and in addition to singing Greesen songs and raising the Greesen flag in front of the Old Town Hall, contributions of smaller performances are explicitly welcome.

Saarwellingen Greesendaach
Fat Thursday, 16.02.2023, from 11 a.m.
Around the Town Hall, Schloßplatz 1, 66793 Saarwellingen
Saarwellingen is finally celebrating its national holiday - the Greesendaach - in a big way again with the storming of the town hall, fool's tree, Greesen parades, a large party tent as well as the town hall stage and the gold-blue sparks tent!
The children’s and youth parade starts at 11 a.m. from Dillinger Straße to Schloßplatz. After its arrival, the parade participants can hang pennants, signs, or insignias on the fool’s tree. As in previous years, our special fool’s tree (with its roots pointing upwards) will indicate that the Fifth Season has begun and the people of Wellingen are literally standing "on their heads" again. The Gold-Blue-Sparklers tent at Schloßplatz will be open nonstop from that time on.
From 4 pm (until 8 pm), "Die Konsorten" will heat up the audience with typical Faasend songs on the Faasend stage in front of the town hall. At 5 pm, the traditional Greesen parade will start from Dillinger Straße to Schloßplatz. Greesen, guards, and the prince couples will then try to storm the town hall and take the town hall key from the mayor. After that, all venues open, visitors wander through the village and storm the tents and bars; everywhere there is music and dancing. In addition to the Gold-Blue festival tent on Schloßplatz, there is the large party tent at the site of the former festival hall, at Wilhelmstraße 7, where under the motto "Wellinger Faasend Marathon," Experience Event GmbH in cooperation with the municipality of Saarwellingen guarantees pure Faasend party fun.
For a safe way home, KVS offers a number of additional bus connections.
Ticket Info:
The Greesentag wristbands cost 4 euros in presale, and 6 euros starting from Fetter Donnerstag.
You can also support the "Wellinger Faasend" this year by purchasing festival badges. These are available about 2 weeks before Fat Thursday in presale at the well-known Saarwellingen presale points (e.g., town hall, Sparkasse and Volksbank banks, post offices, and other Saarwellingen shops) or on site from the festival badge sellers. By purchasing, you help to preserve the "Wellinger Faasend" tradition and also gain access to the festival tents. No guaranteed entry with the wristband in case of overcrowding in the festival tents.
