There was damage to the fuel tank of the truck. As a result of this damage, several hundred liters of diesel fuel leaked into the environment. The leak was sealed by the fire brigade and the remaining diesel was pumped out. The Malzbach runs directly at the scene of the incident. To prevent further spreading of the diesel, water barriers were deployed in it. The truck was secured and later recovered and towed by a specialist company. The State Office for Environmental and Occupational Safety, which was also called to the scene, monitored all measures.
In total, 35 firefighting personnel from the fire districts of Uchtelfangen, Illingen, Ost, and Welschbach were deployed. The Illingen fire department was supported with equipment from the fire departments of Merchweiler and Schiffweiler. Also present at the scene were the deputy fire chief, HAZMAT unit leader, police, energy supplier, public works department, and a salvage company.
