However, in 2 traffic accidents, there was a head-on collision between two cars each, resulting in several people being partially seriously injured. Both accidents occurred on the L 124 between Wiebelskirchen and Ottweiler. The first accident was reported around 2:40 p.m. A 39-year-old woman from Ottweiler was driving on the aforementioned route from Ottweiler towards Wiebelskirchen. In a left curve there, she skidded due to the slippery road surface and crossed into the oncoming lane. A 62-year-old man from Namborn was driving on the oncoming lane at that time, could no longer avoid the collision, and the two cars collided. The 62-year-old’s vehicle was thrown onto its side by the impact. The total of 3 occupants in the vehicle of the female driver from Ottweiler remained uninjured according to current knowledge. The man and his passenger were presumably seriously injured and were taken to the University Hospital Homburg for further treatment. However, there were no life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles were completely damaged.
The second accident occurred only about 1.5 hours later, also on the same stretch (about 200m outside the town of Wiebelskirchen). Here, the 52-year-old female driver from Ottweiler was driving her car from the direction of Wiebelskirchen towards Ottweiler. Due to icy roads from snow, she lost control of her vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic on the left. There, a collision occurred with a 23-year-old man from Ottweiler who was driving his car on the L 124 towards Ottweiler at that time. The woman was seriously injured in the accident (bruises and contusions) and was taken to the Marien Hospital in St. Wendel. The man was slightly injured and was taken to St. Josef Hospital in Neunkirchen-Kohlhof for further examinations. Both vehicles were completely damaged beyond repair.
