At the Lebach New Year's Concert on January 14, guests can look forward to new soloists and musical surprises. Also participating again are the chief conductor of the Hamburg Orchestra Association and musical director of the Salzburg Festival, Holger Kolodziej, as well as the "Orchestra of Nations".
The project "Pedestrian Zone Redesign" will continue to occupy the city council and administration in 2023. The current schedule foresees starting work on the redesign of "Rathausplatz" – after the tendering and awarding of contracts – as early as mid-year. The expected construction period is approximately one and a half years, so completion is anticipated by the end of 2024.
Work on the "educational landscape" Landsweiler is also progressing. The renovation of the school building is expected to be completed during the summer holidays, so that teaching can take place in the renovated rooms in the new school year. At the same time, the daycare center will be relocated to the vacated container area at the Stangenwaldhalle to allow work on expanding the daycare center to begin. After the completion of the work, a 5-group facility will be operated at the Landsweiler location in the future.
In addition to the planned expansion in Landsweiler, more childcare places for children and toddlers will already be offered in spring at the municipal day care centers in Thalexweiler and Steinbach. In Thalexweiler, 13 additional daycare places are available after completion of renovation work. In Steinbach, six additional places have been created through the restructuring of the current group and room situation to meet the increased demand for places for nursery children. Both measures have been completed structurally; however, various furnishings are still missing due to current delivery delays.
In addition to the measures at existing childcare facilities, plans for the construction of the new municipal daycare center in Gresaubach are also being intensified.
Further measures are planned for the gradual implementation of the cycling concept. For example, bicycle parking facilities will be installed or renewed at various municipal buildings. At Lebach station, it will soon be possible to easily and comfortably charge e-bikes.
The plans for new development areas in Dörsdorf, Landsweiler, and Lebach are also to be specified.
Of course, celebrations are also held. With carnival sessions, lively events, and carnival parades, Faasendboozen can make up for what was so sorely missed in the past two years. In addition to the two-day Theelfeschd on June 23 and 24, the city officials are also planning a moonlight market in 2023, which this time is scheduled to take place directly after the Easter holidays on April 14. The dates for the popular "Kultursommer" are already set for July 7 and 21, with a possible additional concert evening "unner der Bregg." One should definitely mark the date for the Green Week, which will be celebrated from September 7 to 12. Furthermore, according to the organizer, a medieval market "Kurzweyl zu Lebach" will take place again on the horse racecourse from May 12 to 14, and on November 18, the Stadthalle will rock at "Rock meets Benefiz Vol. IV."
Dear female reader,
dear reader,
Anyone who takes a look at the event calendars in the individual districts will quickly notice that they are bursting at the seams. Clubs, associations, and interest groups offer winter hikes, spring markets, village festivals, and events for the respective fairs, holiday activities for children, autumn and farmers' markets, St. Martin's processions, and Christmas markets. Take advantage of these opportunities to meet in the village and nurture the community spirit.
For the still very fresh, new year, I wish you confidence, happiness, and health, and for all of us the cohesion needed to positively shape the future of our city.
Warm regards
Your Klauspeter Brill, Mayor
