Artist talk with the artist group Farbrausch moderated by Gerhard Alt
The group "Farbrausch" has existed for 13 years. The artists met during a VHS course. At the end of this course, they continued painting together and founded the joint group of female artists. Their first exhibition took place in 2012 at the "Old Town Hall," where, 10 years later, they are now presenting their work for the fourth time. This year's exhibition includes works by the artists Monika Blass-Stein, Veronika Hawner, Anne Klein, Judith Neusius, Christiane Schmitt-Neusius, Christel Weirich, and Monika Zach, showcasing a cross-section of their work created over the past three years. This morning offers the opportunity to engage in conversation with the artists.

Describing everyday situations, encounters with people, and their zest for life in poetic words and sounds. Seeing the daily rhythm of life from a positive perspective, consciously reflecting on one’s own thoughts and feelings, and taking time for others and oneself – all this inspires singer-songwriter Lucia Neu to create ever new compositions full of poetry and musicality “between major and minor.” Since the release of the album “Zeitgefühl,” many extraordinary new songs have emerged, including titles like “Queen of Time” and “Moments You Can’t Buy,” which show how the special can arise from the simple. The singer-songwriter’s vocals and guitar are virtuously complemented by Christian Walter on double bass. Melodious and rhythmically distinctive, he gives the songs depth and the right groove. A musical liaison that, under the motto “less is more,” creates astonishing musical complexity.
Go through life with an open heart and appreciate the little things – the music of newcomer VICA (Viktoria Neu) touches the soul and captures moments that so easily slip away in this fast-paced world. What is truly important in life? VICA succeeds in answering this personally with sensitive lyrics combined with clear guitar chords and her very special, moving voice.

In these stories, Andreas H. Drescher devotes himself to the art of storytelling, which oscillates in the form of literary grotesque between such different poles as the fairy-tale, the political, and the erotic. The chapters satirize the course of a TV evening, which begins with the fairy-tale hour and goes through daily soaps and melodramas up to the late-night program. The texts are associatively related to the works of the painter Heike Puderbach, whose paintings oscillate with equal edge between the bizarre, the fantastic, and the political.

Greesen Breakfast
The Greesen breakfast at the Old Town Hall is already a tradition in Saarwellingen to get into the upcoming Carnival season. On this morning, the Greesen costumes are unveiled and worn for the first time in the new year. In addition, the strategy planning for the planned town hall storm is discussed over delicious treats from the Welling company. All Greesen – old, new, and aspiring – along with their companions are cordially invited. The event starts at 11:00 AM, and besides singing Greesen songs and raising the Greesen flag in front of the Old Town Hall, contributing small performances is explicitly welcome.

To find a new musical expression, three musicians from the Saarland have formed a new acoustic trio. Always fascinated by music, the singer Caroline Mohr has performed in various bands such as Soul Family Midnight Mover and Groovelane after her vocal training. As an experienced pop-soul-funk singer, she captivates audiences beyond German borders. Alongside Amby Schillo and Rolf Siefert, who played together in the Joy Fleming Band among others, two of the most experienced musicians from the Saarland come together in this trio.
Car draws inspiration from songs and songwriters such as Bonnie Raitt, Lady Gaga, Adele, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Sade, and many others.

Opening Exhibition Wolfgang Bier
Wolfgang Bier, born in 1951 in Saarbrücken, has been engaged theoretically and practically with the subject of photography since his studies as an art educator with Jo Enzweiler. Initially, analog black-and-white photography with image development in his own darkroom was the focus. This was complemented by visits to exhibitions in galleries and museums featuring renowned photographers such as Man Ray, Umbo, Wols, André Kertész, Harald Mante, and many more. Around 2006, he switched to digital photography, later moving on to image editing on the PC using software programs like Photoshop and Lightroom. Thematically, his work deals with space, time, and movement, as well as serial work in the field of photography. The themes come from various areas of work, such as dance, portrait, nude, landscape, industrial culture, and architecture.
This exhibition features images in the field of architecture. These are photographs of exteriors and interiors taken in various European and non-European cities.
All photos are being shown here for the first time. The exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the bistro "Altes Rathaus" (Tue-Sat, 6-10 pm) and runs until mid/end of April 2023.
