A fire, presumably caused by fireworks, broke out in a wooden annex of a residential building and spread to the main house. Despite immediate firefighting efforts by the fire departments from Wellesweiler, Furpach, Ludwigsthal, Hangard, and NK-Innenstadt with 70 personnel, the fire could not be completely prevented from spreading to the residential building and an immediately adjoining property. The total of 6 residents and guests from both properties were evacuated and remained unharmed. The property with the wooden annex is currently uninhabitable. The residents are staying with family members. The total damage to both houses is estimated at 100,000 euros. The investigation into the cause of the fire is not yet complete.
