On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, the local police authority of the city of Wadern reported that the town entrance signs (commonly known as town signs) were stolen at the following entrances: Wadrilltal, Almstraße, coming from Kell to Wadern, Karrenweg, coming from the cemetery to Buttnich, Buttnicher Straße Bardenbach, Büschfelder Straße, coming from Büschfeld. These thefts caused not only significant property damage due to the production and installation of new traffic signs but also posed a danger to road traffic. By removing the town entrance signs, incoming drivers can no longer recognize that the speed limit on this section of the road is 50 km/h.
