This was unanimously decided by the Board of Directors of the fund. Members of BARMER will therefore not have to pay more for their health insurance coverage in 2023 than they have previously. "For our insured members and those who want to become members, our stable contribution rate is a strong signal of reliability, especially in these very challenging times of crisis," explains Dunja Kleis, State Managing Director of BARMER in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
With the resolution of the GKV Financial Stabilization Act, the average additional contribution of statutory health insurance (GKV) will increase by 0.3 percentage points to 1.6 percent on January 1, 2023. This means that BARMER, which charges an additional contribution of 1.5 percent, will be cheaper than competitors next year. Kleis says: “A very smart budget policy, positive effects of an increasingly digitized process and organizational structure, as well as a restrained expenditure development are important reasons for BARMER’s solid financial development.” In particular, investments in the digital transformation of the fund are increasingly paying off and are appreciated by the insured.
