The inter-municipal project around the Saarpfalz district serves the city's public services and enables all citizens to use the swimming facilities year-round. Savings in electricity and heating demand are estimated to be up to 50 percent. The city of Blieskastel thus reduces costs while simultaneously protecting the environment. In Spiesen-Elversberg, the Großenbruch sports hall in the Elversberg district is being renovated and energetically upgraded at the same time. With a funding volume of €1,912,500, the federal government is covering 90% of the costs here for municipalities in financial distress. The renovation is especially good news for the students of the planned Pestalozzi elementary school and the existing Albert-Schweitzer community school, particularly for their future physical education. The state capital Saarbrücken is receiving a grant of around €1,687,500 for the new construction of the combined changing room on the Saarwiese. After the new construction, the changing room will not only be state-of-the-art in terms of energy efficiency and thus contribute to climate protection but will also primarily provide added value for the sports club Sportfreunde 05 Burbach and the Weyersberg School, the largest elementary school in Saarland."
