A 27-year-old man from Schiffweiler got behind the wheel of his car and caused the first accident on the street "Zum Rondell" when he drove into the front yard of a property there. Four occupants initially got out of the vehicle and fled, while two others reconsidered, returned to the vehicle, and continued driving. A patrol car from the St. Wendel police was already behind the vehicle in question. The officers had to observe how the driver ran a red light just a few meters further at the intersection with Missionshausstraße, collided there with a car that had the right of way, and thus caused the second accident.
Neither the blue lights nor the siren of the emergency vehicle were able to stop the driver, resulting in a third accident on Werschweilerstraße when the driver collided with a vehicle ahead. Afterwards, the accident vehicle came to a stop at the roadside. The two occupants attempted to leave the scene but were apprehended and arrested by the police officers on site. The reason for the escape was quickly identified by the officers. The driver was apparently under the influence of narcotics and was not in possession of a valid driver's license. He now faces multiple legal proceedings. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accidents.
