For the fourth time, the Freie Wähler Neunkirchen association held its traditional St. Nicholas event for people in need on St. Nicholas Day, December 6th. After two years of COVID-19 restrictions, a St. Nicholas event took place again for the first time. Freshly baked waffles, children's punch, and Christmas music invited participants to linger. Over 50 St. Nicholas bags were filled by members with plenty of surprises such as stuffed animals, non-perishable food, hygiene items, St. Nicholas pastries, hats, and much more. The bags were distributed by St. Nicholas to those in need at the former Alt Backstubb inn, who had registered in advance.
„We are pleased year after year to help people who have little. With a small token of appreciation, we brought joy to both the big and small visitors, and that makes our own hearts swell. Especially during the Christmas season, love for one’s neighbor and compassion are paramount. Many adults and children are suffering from the energy crisis and high inflation, especially in this difficult time,“ said the chairman Brandon Lee Posse.
A special thanks goes to all donors and sponsors, without whom this campaign would not have been possible: E-Center Wellesweiler, IKO Import GmbH, Curry 14, Willi W. Büsgen, dm-drogerie markt Germany, Globus Baumarkt and the Kolmen Steinbach Bakery. Of course, I also want to thank the members who filled the St. Nicholas bags and offered refreshments,” Posse continued. The fifth St. Nicholas campaign for the needy is also planned to take place on December 6th next year.
