A 24-year-old man from Merzig had previously ordered a taxi to the Großer Markt in Saarlouis. From there, he wanted to be driven to a nearby brothel in Saarlouis. During the ride, the taxi passenger realized that he still needed cash. He asked the taxi driver to first take him to a bank branch. When the passenger was inside the bank branch in Wallerfangen, the taxi driver found his behavior suspicious. He informed a colleague, who came to the taxi driver. Together, they approached the passenger inside the bank branch, where an argument ensued. During the altercation, the passenger punched the taxi driver and his colleague in the face. Afterwards, he fled the bank on foot. The perpetrator was apprehended by the police as part of the immediately initiated manhunt. He was significantly intoxicated. The planned visit to the brothel ultimately had to be canceled. The perpetrator now faces criminal charges for taxi fraud and bodily injury.
