The assessment made by the State Court of Audit exactly matches the concerns of the FDP Saar regarding the planned 3-billion fund for structural change. The state government must clearly explain why there are no other financing options and ensure that this enormous additional debt does not become the death knell for Saarland.
For the long-known and necessary structural adjustment measures, the state government has neither presented solutions nor begun to take the necessary steps. The financial policy spokesperson of the FDP Saar, Roland König, said on this matter: "It is not enough when the Saarland Finance Minister says that no credit-financed structural measures are also not solutions. He must rather clearly explain what positive outcomes can be achieved and how the necessary revenue can be generated from this so that the structural fund can succeed."
