The Saar Greens welcome the announcement by the Saarland state government to finally introduce their own Saarland Climate Protection Act. However, as Secretary General Hanko Zachow emphasizes, the measures outlined so far are by no means sufficient to achieve the goals agreed upon in the Paris Climate Agreement for Saarland. They obviously intend to fall short of the standards set by other southwestern German states. We are skeptical whether the SPD really understands climate protection.
