To get straight to the point, by decision of the state arbitration court, the untenable allegations against Hubert Ulrich, the long-time state chairman and co-spokesperson of the Saarlouis local association, who was honored in May 2017 for his special services to the Saarland state association, were all rejected.
That there was no basis to the untenable accusations required no special legal knowledge, only common sense. All allegations were dismissed as unfounded by the state arbitration court. So, were the well-known initiators of this "tall tale" only interested in causing maximum damage to the state association? After evaluating the events, there is only one conclusion: yes, that was exactly the case.
Those who have accused Hubert Ulrich of behavior detrimental to the party are precisely the ones who have caused lasting damage to the state association of the Greens and are responsible for the fact that the Saarland Greens play no role not only at the state level but also at the federal political level. Particularly striking in this context is that a large number of the people pursuing the party expulsion procedure have personally benefited massively from Ulrich's commitment over the past decades. During this time, they valued Ulrich's commitment and personal dedication as democratic; today, they claim the opposite.
It is interesting that they criticize Hubert Ulrich for the approaches they themselves now practice. The Saarlouis district board makes it clear that it will continue to work intensively to offer voters substantive and personnel options. Especially given the current political situation in the country and global developments, whether the impacts of the war, the climate catastrophe, or the biodiversity crisis, a strong green voice is necessary. Besides individuals who represent green values, it is also essential for a party to have leaders with social competence at the state level. We are working to ensure that this will be the case again in the future.
