After the federal government and the states agreed on the financing, train and bus drivers will be able to use local and regional transport across Germany for 49 euros starting next year. Parliamentary State Secretary Oliver Luksic and the FDP state chairman welcome this agreement and highlight the positive effects of the so-called "Deutschlandticket" for Saarland:
„In Saarland, we have commuters who travel long distances using public transport and currently have to pay €99.00/month for a subscription in Saarland. For them in particular, the agreement on the €49 ticket is a noticeable relief. It is now also much easier and cheaper to travel to Rhineland-Palatinate.”
The 49 EUR ticket is not only intended to provide financial relief, but it can also serve as an incentive to switch and structurally modernize and improve public transport through customer data.
„The digital and simple Germany ticket is also an offer for car drivers. However, for the use of buses and trains to actually become an option for motorists, the state government would need to work more closely with municipalities to expand and extend the public transport network. The federal government can help Saarland with GVFG funds to reactivate routes and expand public transport.“
