Saarbrücken/Schmelz
On the morning of Sunday, 02.10.2022, the State Police Headquarters received information about a possible homicide in the municipality of Schmelz. A 43-year-old man is said to have killed his partner. The police were able to arrest the man at the crime scene.
The mother of the suspect found the 34-year-old woman lifeless this morning at around 5:20 AM in the shared residence. She then contacted the police and emergency services.
When the officers of the Lebach police station arrived at the residence, they found the situation as described. It is currently assumed that the 43-year-old killed his partner. The motive is still unclear. The suspect surrendered to the police forces without resistance.
The department for crimes against life has initiated the investigation. The victim's body will be autopsied later today. The investigations are still ongoing. The suspect was brought before the arrest judge at Saarbrücken District Court on Sunday evening. The suspect was ordered to be placed in the forensic hospital in Merzig. There, the suspect is awaiting his court trial.
