On Tuesday, 27.09.2022, around 7:20 PM, a serious traffic accident involving two vehicles occurred on the B 423 between Kleinottweiler and Jägersburg, near the Jägersburg pond. The 77-year-old driver of a white Peugeot was critically injured, and the 48-year-old passenger of a green Subaru Impreza was seriously injured. The Subaru driver fled on foot after the accident and has not yet been found despite intensive search efforts by police, fire department (with drone), and THW. According to the passenger, the driver is a 30-year-old man from Homburg. Investigations are ongoing. The Subaru bore license plates not assigned to the vehicle. According to current findings, both vehicles were traveling in the direction of Bexbach-Kleinottweiler when the Subaru collided with the rear of the Peugeot, which was in the left lane, for unknown reasons. Since the exact course of the accident could not be clearly reconstructed, an external expert was commissioned to prepare a report. Both occupants were taken to nearby hospitals. The B 423 had to be completely closed for about seven hours during the accident investigation and cleanup of the site.
