Now Homburg's largest district Erbach also has a bookcase. On Friday, September 23, 2022, it was inaugurated by the district manager Elena Burgard together with the deputy Christine Becker, the headmistress of Langenäcker Elementary School, Annabelle Herzog, the team from Metallbau Wilden, who made the cabinet, as well as Friedrich Burgard from the district conference "Living Erbach".
It took about half a year until the cabinet was set up. “It is important to me that all citizens in the neighborhood have access to free books. Reading and literature are essential pillars of social participation. The motto ‘Take one and give one’ also helps to reuse items and conserve resources,” emphasized Elena Burgard at the inauguration of the well-stocked book cabinet. Books were collected over a long period of time and were already met with great interest from children on the day of the opening. The book cabinet principle is that book lovers can take books free of charge. What has been read or is no longer needed can be put back into the cabinet.
The project was realized through the discretionary fund of the district conference "Living Erbach" as part of the urban development funding program "Social City." The cabinet is located on Thomas Street opposite the daycare center and the Church of Mary of Peace.
