After having to forgo the beloved Ensdorf Christmas market in 2020 and 2021 due to Corona, the chances are currently good to finally offer a festive market atmosphere again, filled with the scents of cinnamon and mulled wine, as well as beautiful crafting and decorating ideas or handicrafts.
After multiple discussions between the administration and politics, as well as the participating clubs, institutions, and private individuals regarding the location of the event, the decision for the site has been made this year.
Under consideration were: the former location of the Christmas market at the Ensdorf marketplace, the schoolyard area of the Ensdorf elementary school, the area next to the Ensdorf parish church, the forecourt of the Ensdorf large sports hall near the Saarpolygon, as well as the recently chosen location on Prälat-Anheier-Straße in Ensdorf. The main criteria for selecting the location were the availability of necessary infrastructure (sufficient electricity capacity, water/sewage) – but also a site that is easily accessible to the public in an attractive environment. In the end, the Ensdorf marketplace won out.
Well aware that this location is not equally well received by everyone, because there apparently is no "THE" location in Ensdorf, Mayor Jörg Wilhelmy hopes, on the one hand, that the Christmas market can take place at all and, on the other hand, that it will receive the support it deserves given the efforts of all involved and, not least, the expenditure involved.
