The legendary rock band "Scorpions" has moved entire generations with their music and, in particular, wrote the "Hymn of the Change" with "Wind Of Change." An exhibition featuring many original exhibits will be on display in Wadgassen from September 30th.
„Wind Of Change“ The Scorpions are one of the most famous and successful rock bands in history. With over 110 million records sold and hits that are considered true rock classics and anthems. They will forever be associated with the song „Wind Of Change,“ which is regarded as the „Anthem of the Change“ and uniquely captures the mood at the end of the Cold War. Released as a single by the Scorpions in 1991, it still evokes unique emotions today.
Never before shown exhibition pieces
“Wind Of Change” is also the name of the Scorpions exhibition taking place from September 30th to October 3rd at the Kulturhaus in Hostenbach. “The special thing about the exhibition will be the many original exhibits, some of which have never been shown before and will never be seen again,” says Mayor Sebastian Greiber with excitement. These include original stage outfits of the singer Klaus Meine, gold and platinum records of the band, an original guitar, and many other treasures, some directly from band members. There will also be contemporary witnesses such as memories of the band’s legendary performance at the Moscow Music Peace Festival, original tour posters, and connections to current world events. “The song ‘Wind Of Change’ also symbolically stands for the end of the Cold War. This is currently being partially reversed by the Russian troops’ war of aggression on Ukraine. Therefore, it was important for us to establish connections to the current political situation. The Scorpions themselves were moved by recent circumstances to rework the lyrics of their hit ‘Wind Of Change.’
Opening with live music
The exhibition is created through collaboration with Wadgassen citizen Markus Battard, who maintains good contact with former drummer Herman Rarebell and the management of the Scorpions. Thanks to him and his efforts, the exhibition pieces do not gather dust in boxes but can be presented to a wide audience in Wadgassen.
The exhibition opening will take place with live music on September 30 in the large hall of the Kulturhaus Hostenbach.
