For the commissioning of the new landfill in the municipality of Mettlach, all citizens and interested parties are cordially invited to an open house directly on the landfill site (access via the "Kachelpass" Mettlach-Saarhölzbach) on Saturday, October 1st, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
From 10:00 AM, the official part begins with a welcoming address by Mayor Daniel Kiefer. Afterwards, all participants will have the opportunity to have this complex construction project thoroughly shown and explained to them. Food and drinks will be well provided. In addition to a bouncy castle, our little citizens have the chance to take a look inside an excavator together with the specialists from the company Terrag.
Since 2008, TERRAG GmbH has been operating the former municipal landfill on the outskirts of Orscholz under a contractual agreement with the municipality of Mettlach. In addition to soil and construction debris, the residents of the municipality of Mettlach were also able to dispose of their garden waste there.
In the meantime, the site between Orscholz and Weiten has reached its capacity limits. For several years, the former operational landfill of Villeroy & Boch AG in Mettlach has therefore been developed by the company Terrag for a new operation. After three years of construction, this new site is now being opened to the public.
From October 4, 2022, the landfill in Orscholz/Weiten is closed. All private deliveries of construction debris, soil masses, and green waste can then be made from Monday to Saturday to the new landfill in Mettlach.
The previous landfill site Orscholz/Weiten will remain open on Saturdays for green waste deliveries.
