The Health Department of the Regional Association reports 239 new corona cases today (as of September 23, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days rises to 398.4 according to internal calculations.
Of the 239 new corona cases, around 30 percent each affect the group of 40 to 60-year-olds and the group of over 60-year-olds. With around 13 percent, the proportion of those under 20 years old remains the lowest. However, a month ago, this figure was still around eight percent. Currently, there are clusters of cases in 25 facilities, including six senior centers, seven disability facilities, six daycare centers, and two schools.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalities In the past seven days, 1,304 people in the Regionalverband have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 652 live in Saarbrücken, 121 in Völklingen, 93 in Heusweiler, 87 in Püttlingen, 80 in Sulzbach, 73 in Quierschied, 63 in Riegelsberg, 57 in Friedrichsthal, 54 in Kleinblittersdorf, and 24 in Großrosseln.
Corona case numbers since the beginning of the pandemic
In total, there are 130,198 confirmed cases in the regional association that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 70,569 are in the state capital and 59,629 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus stands at 810.
